Terrible power serivce. Overpriced. No care for the customer. Random power outages for no apparent reason. DUKE ENERGY is way more reliable. I hate Greer CPW also because they have no renawable energy incentives. If you want to go solar and have Greer CPW, they actually charge you MORE money with an increased base service charge of $22 per month. It is outragous that a company would try to stymie solar energy production on a residential level. I love my home but wish it was not in the Greer city limits as it offers no advantages and costs me more money for horrible service.

UPDATE: Just had another power interruption. This is the second time in two weeks. GREER CPW is lying when they say "on average our customers only experience two power outages per year". With this unreliability in uptime, I will most likely need to buy an Uninterupptable power supply to prevent key electronics from losing power.

Couldn't help but to notice all the 1 stars. My experience with Greer CPW is a frustrating one. They are not strong believers in good customer service. If you need a tech to come by but can't get off of work to meet them then your out of luck, no appointments. If all you use gas for is heat only, your still gonna pay all summer long. If you desire to save money and simply cut the gas off during the summer, huge freaking mistake.

I used to have Duke until I moved to Greer. CPW is heartless and doesnt care about its customers all they care about is money. Duke always worked with you if need be. But CPW seems like they enjoy cutting peoples power off.

Don't be an involuntary servant all your life. Think outside the box and PROTEST companies like this. Use 3rd party solar companies that have nothing to do with these people. Or at least have a FOREIGN technician not paid by the STATE to come and rewire your home before you move in because I'm giving you a thorough warning....these people sit in a big building in the shape of a BANK and bank tellers. They come to work 5days in a week with pretty dresses fancy hairdos and clean suits. You pay these people to look good to send you another bill that does nothing but breaks your back and your bank account. And if you get a bill on the first and it's not paid by the 5th....the same soft talking voices and devil's in pretty dresses will cut your power slam off even if you have kids...and will charge you a 75$ late fee and a 50$ reconnection fee. PLEASE do not support these people and their fraud of ROBBING everyday hardworking families. And if your bill is 200$ on the FIRST ALL THAT MONEY IS DUE when it's due. If you make a partial payment...prepare to be in the dark.

PLEASE DON'T FALL INTO THIS TRAP OF USING THESE PEOPLES SERVICES. At some point we have to stop asking questions and start answering them. To join CPW most middle class families will pay a 200 -350$ deposit with these people.

I requested several times to update contact info and change billing to mail only. This was supposedly taking care of over the phone yet I never get in bills until mid month. 1st request, number supposedly changed but not. Absolutely no mail until a notice s week after it's due?? Cut off because they still had the wrong number, didn't add the correct name and continued to email to an account I specifically asked them not to. At this point I asked to speak to a supervisor and the employee actually laughed at me. Not until 3 months later do they tell me these things can't be taken care of over the phone but their employees acted like it was taken care of and no big deal??? They finally got my number right this last time to tell me of my notice. I paid it by the time directed but using a drop box and now they requested a deposit $335. Because of their mistakes, im paying $335 . This is unacceptable. The'yre a money hungry heartless company that need to learn how to do their jobs correctly. One employee even laughed at me on the phone when I asked to talk to her supervisor. I did talk to one eventually and she says she'll go through the conversations. However, this does not take away the horrible experience I've had with CPW. The whole ordeal will make Christmas harder than it was going to begin with. I hope they all pay for their mistakes.

We occupied a small lot of several 2bdrm 1 bath homes, as did the other families as well. All the homes were faithfully running power or water( some gas) through CPW OF greer and none of these homes exceeded 600sq ft perimeter. Most rent in the area is 550 to 700 a month. And let me mind you half of the families are gone most of the day. Most parents leave for work at 5 or 6am in the morning and don't come home until 5 or 6 in the afternoon. The sc avg. Rate for electricity is 11.77C. There would be elected bills as high as 400$ at everyone's home on the first of the month. The smallest bill I've ever received from these people is 200$. All it did was grow. I was certainly convinced these people (CPW, landlord,public servants,wire techs) were all in cahoots together after hiring a FOREIGN electrician to come and view my home and several others after I had already obtained first opinions through CPW workers and the landlord that nothing excessive was pulling more power than what need be. And these people do work for the state and they were in complete denial nothing was current to make the bill so high...it was just high due to usage. Well after hiring a Russian technician we were told all the homes we were paying 550 to 800$ worth of rent for every month had faulty OLD HIGH KW WIRES that would excessively pull power regardless if the appliance or source was even on. It would constantly pull power from main supply to remain active voltage when use of the power would be necessary in the home. Like a car constantly running without being turned off. After having my wires toyed around a bit I finally received a bill from these people for about a 100$ with a disconnection notice of tampering with their power. Yes these people are some serious wolves in sheep's clothing. If you have had duke energy before these people you will definitely miss duke energy!! I left that horrible place with those horrible public servants and relocated to a area serviced by duke energy. I now have a 3 been 2 bath and my power bill is only 40-50$ a month. And my home is 800sq ft.
